Employment Law


Corea et al. v. Cafe Spice {GCT}, Inc. et al.  in which approximately 700 food plant workers brought suit against a major producer of pre-packaged meals for underpayment of wages and recovered $1.6 million. 


Barragan Contreras et al. v. Rosann Landscape Corp. et al.  in which a class of a landscaping workers recovered $1 million for violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act and New York Labor Law. 


Bisono et al. v. TDL Restoration et al.  in which former employees of a NY-based construction firm secured maximum damages for wage and pay notice violations after a jury trial in United States District Court. 


Guarcas  et al. v.  Gourmet Heaven et al. in which former employees of a Providence, Rhode Island business succeeded in holding a new corporate entity responsible for wage theft under  a "successor liability" theory, a question of first impression within the 1st Circuit.


Consumer/Civil Rights


Bennett et al. v. Ahern et al.  in which thousands of  low-income, disabled and seriously ill Rhode Island utility consumers obtained class-wide injunctive relief to prevent termination of their electric utility service in violation of their due process rights. 


Housing 


Centeno et al. v. Zara Realty et al. - in which dozens of low-income tenants succeeded in stopping their landlord's illegal rent overcharges and harassment. 


Aguaiza et al. v. Vantage  et al.  -  in which a large group of NYC residential tenants brought the first ever private action under the city's anti-harassment law and succeeded in holding their private equity-backed corporate landlord accountable for systemic legal violations across thousands of rent regulated apartments.
